Army Concerned Lighter Gear = Less Protection

Nearly $3 million in gear aimed at dramatically cutting the load combat soldiers carry is still sitting in a warehouse two weeks after it was supposed to leave for Afghanistan, reports Army Times. Army leaders decided to hold the shipment for last-minute safety tests.

The battalion's worth of kit, valued at $2.8 million was intended for soldiers in Combined Joint Task Force 101 as part of a battlefield assessment the Asymmetric Warfare Group and other Army commands have been organizing for more than six months.
